The Ceremony
Why choose to have a Blessing ceremony? Well, there are lots of reasons you may want to show your love for your partner in a highly personal and meaningful way, regardless of any legal ceremony you may have already experienced, such as a Marriage, Civil Partnership, or even a longstanding relationship. Sometimes couples marry abroad with just a few family members and friends around them and later celebrate with a larger group or community when they return home. A Blessing is a lovely way to celebrate a relationship, irrespective of the legal position, and can be tailored to suit your style—whether that's large and raucous or intimate and low-key!
Working together
As a funeral celebrant, I will work with you to help create a bespoke Blessing ceremony that reflects who you both are, your preferences, and your lifestyle, telling the story of what you mean to each other. I will assist you in brainstorming ideas to make the event unique and personal, and if you want to involve others who play a special role in your lives, we can make it participative.
Fees
My standard fee is £350 for a Blessing ceremony. We will agree on the fees during our first meeting to ensure they reflect the work and time required. The fee is payable in instalments. Additional charges may apply, which we will discuss, and these are also outlined below. Included in the £350 fee are:
Initial meeting (1 hour) - This session allows us to explore ideas, get to know each other, and share key information, providing an opportunity for both of us to ask plenty of questions. Ongoing contact (by phone, email, or online) will help guide you through planning the ceremony and finalizing details.
The script - I will send you a draft of your story, script, and agreed Blessing wording and readings or poems for your review, so we can agree on a final version. This process may involve a few revisions, which is completely normal.
Ceremony (30 minutes) - I will arrive at your venue approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony to check arrangements and ensure everyone involved in speaking or the ceremony feels at ease. The ceremony itself will last about 30 minutes. I will stay until after the ceremony, hopefully taking a few lovely photos of you both before bidding farewell and leaving you to enjoy the rest of your event.
And after the ceremony... I'll send you a lasting keepsake of your ceremony in the form of a personalized folder containing a copy of your ceremony certificate, scripts, story, readings, or poems, along with a little treat to enjoy as you look through it!
Additional fees may be incurred if we agree that I will provide extra services or items for the ceremony, such as candles, a witness book, ribbons, or other elements. We can agree on these as we develop the ceremony together.
Travel & Accommodation - If you live more than 25 miles from my address or your venue is over 25 miles away, an additional fee will apply, which we will agree upon. If an overnight stay is required for the ceremony, this will also be discussed and charged to you after the ceremony, along with the travel costs.
